Translate that into an equation, and we get:

a+b = 24
a-b = 15

If we add these two equations, we get:

2a = 39
a = 39/2 = 19.5

Plug back in a = 19.5 and solve for b

a + b = 24
19.5 + b = 24
b = 4.5

The two numbers are 19.5 and 4.5.
