Let's define x -> Darlene's weight
and
y -> Leah's dog Weight
Equation 1x5y
Equation 2: xty 84
Since x is equal to 5y in Equation 1, you can replace x in the Equation 2 by 5y. So, Equatoin 2 can be written as

5y + y = 8
6y = 84
y = 14

So, you find y is equal to 14 (Leah's dog weight). Then, x is equal to 5y, 5 * 14 70. So, x is equal to 70 (Darlene's dog weight.
