two arrows in a chemical equation (both arrow heads facing opposite direction) shows that the chemical reaction is reversible meaning that the reactants that have become products could reverse and become reactants again through the same process

A double arrow means that the reaction is reversible. Because the arrow points both ways, the reaction can move from reactants to products or products to reactants.
