When might both divergent and convergent thinking be used in problem solving?

When engaging to problem solving, the divergent thinking can be used when a person makes use of his or her creativity in which this enables a person to use as many factors or possible solutions that can be of used in the problem while the convergent thinking only focuses on one range or answer when solving the problem.
