The strengths of Thomas Aquinas' link to eternal law are that it creates a clear cut rule of what is expected in natural law, and any lay person can participate in whether or not they are religious. Weaknesses of this are that it becomes almost impossible to universally agree on what morality is and what it means to be 'good'.
