The answer is the superego. It is the ethical factor
of the character and offers the moral ideals
by which the ego functions. The superego’s disapprovals, preventions,
and reserves form an individual’s conscience, and its optimistic ambitions and
principles signify one’s perfect self-image, or “ego
model.”
