For AB to be parallel to DC based on the diagram, angle AWZ must be equal to angle WZY.

But in the diagram shown, angle AWZ is equal to angle XYC and we are not told that WZ is parallel to XY.

Therefore his error is that he misapplied the alternate angle property.
