How to solve an equation with variables and absoulte value symbols?

A number's absolute value simply shows the number's distance from zero.

Thus, the absolute value of 4 is 4 because 4 is 4 away from zero. The absolute value of -12 is 12. The absolute value of xyz is xyz.

It is just the same number (always a positive number).
