The Alabama football coach in Forrest Gump was named Paul "Bear" Bryant. Unlike Forrest, who is a fictional character, Bryant was a real person, and taught at not only the University of Alabama, but also the University of Maryland, the University of Kentucky, and Texas A&M University.
