To simplify:

Convert the hours into minutes and add it onto the 45 minutes.

60+60+45=165

Divide distance by time to find unit rate:

140/165=0.848

Answer: About 0.85 miles per minute

2 hours 45 minutes = 2 3/4 hours

miles per hour =  140  / 2  3/4  =  140 /  11/4  = 140 * 4/11 =  50.91 mph to
