To increase an amount by 85% what single multiplier would i need to use?

The initial amount is 100%. you want to decrease it by 85%:

The decreased amount will be 100% - 85 % = 15%
If te amount was "x" and you wand to decreased by 85%, then
you multiply    x.15% = 15%.x
