Nitrogen in organic fertilizers is released slowly into the soil because the organic materials has to be carefully broken down and absorbed by the soil. This is for the plants to directly absorb the nutrients and fluids that are coming directly from the soil. This ensures that all nutrients travel from the roots towards the most important part of the plant.
