What is being referred to as a transmembrane protein-pigment complex is the REACTION CENTER. This transmembrane protein-pigment complex is present in the photosystem. What it does is that acquires energy from the antenna complex. Once the energy is received, this then triggers the an electron that is transported then to the acceptor molecule.
