How would geography be useful in helping to plan the future of a community?

Geography would help because the builder would know where to build: for example, a spot where volcanoes appear often, building a community there would have a risk of having a volcano grow on that land or very close. The upside of the geography would be that it would make that community a tourist hotspot.
