I think the correct answer is true. The octane rating of a fuel is a good indicator of how much power the fuel can deliver during oxidation. It is a measure of a fuel's ability to resist 'knock'. The octane requirement of an engine varies with compression ratio, geometrical and mechanical considerations and operating conditions.
