Answer: What the purpose of the boycotts in Birmingham was is that it was a battle for freedom and equality meant to pressure business leaders to open employment to people of all races, and end all segregation in public facilities, restaurants, schools, and stores, also etc. It later contributed to the passing of the Civil Rights Act in 1964, which led to the end of all racial discrimination in the United States.
