The equation is:
-2 * 5 + d = 14

Solving by multiplying -2 and 5 first:
-10 + d = 14

Add 10 to both sides to get rid of the negative 10:
-10 + d + 10 = 14 + 10

-10 plus 10 gives 0 and it cancels out so:
d = 24 is the solution.
