Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • a² + b² = 73 and
  • ab = 24

We know that:

(a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²

Now , substituting the value in equation,we get.

=> (a + b)² = 73 + 2 × 24

=> (a + b)² = 73 + 48

=> (a + b)² = 121

=> (a + b) = √121 = ±11. ----------(1)

Again:

(a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²

=> (a - b)² = 73 - 48

=> (a - b)² = 25

=> (a - b)² = √25 = ±5. -------(2)

Hope this helps!
