Suppose a young whale shark measured 17 inches one year. The next year, it measured 66 inches. How much did the whale shark grow in one year?

It grew 49 inches more

One year it was 17 and then the next year it became 66 so all you have to do is subtract 66 from 17 (66 - 17) and that’d be equal to 49
