This is because of the United States Federal Government was only sorted into one branch, they could do whatever they wanted at whatever time with their own power, which would not be healthy and would lead to the downfall of the American government.
The reason it was sorted into three branches was to keep each other in check, making sure that one branch didn't have more power over another and was making completely unnecessary decisions that wouldn't benefit the country as a whole.
