Why is it important to know how to estimate quotients

Because it makes it easier for you because if you were to estimate 10 divided by 4. You estimate the 4 to a 5. And you know that could go into 10 twice. But since the original number was 4 you know there's going to be a remainder of 1. So it helps with your prior knowledge.
