Name all the different types of factoring. Explain, in words, how to do each one.
And then give an example for each. (You do not have to solve your example).

1) Factoring out common factors. If each term in the polynomial shares a common factor.
Ex: 6x^2+3x = 3x(2x+1)

2) The sum-product pattern. If the polynomial is of the form x^2+bx+c and there are factors of c that add up to b.
Ex: x^2+7x+12 = (x+3) (x+4)

3) The grouping method. If the polynomial is in the form ax^2+bx+c and there are factors of ac that add up to b.
Ex: 2x^2+7x+3 = (x+3) (2x+1)
