I don't really know if i have enough information to solve this problem, but if you call the schools desk fund x and the amount of money a desk costs y then you can make an equation. x is the total value of money you have to spend. X-y is how much money is left after one desk is purchased. Sorry if this wasn't any help, I cannot really understand this question!
