One number is 11 less than the other number. If their sum is increased by 8, the result is 71. Find the numbers.

First number = [tex]x[/tex]

Second number = [tex]x-11[/tex]

[tex]x+x-11+8=71[/tex]

[tex]2x-3=71[/tex]

[tex]2x=71+3[/tex]

[tex]2x=74[/tex]

[tex]x=37[/tex]

First number = [tex]x=37[/tex]

Second number =  [tex]x-11=37-11=26[/tex]
