What do you think the different parts of Omelas (setting, townspeople, flute player, etc) represent? How do these reveal the meaning and theme of the story?
Omelas is described as Utopia. The city was believed to be perfect with the beautiful mountains and the sea. The exuberant summer festivals with all the fun-filled activities make people think it was a perfect city.
But Omelas was not perfect as said. It had the people who lived under poverty and the children who lived without any privileges.
The flute player creates beautiful music all the people should be attracted towards him but they distant themselves.
