Trench warfare is a type of fighting where two sides dig trenches to fight from for protection. Examples of environmental impact of Trench warfare are the erosion of soil and unexploded chemical weapons left behind. Trenches were developed out of the first Battle of Marne as a way to move troops to the front lines.
