Hi there, Devin! The cello is played sitting down with the instrument between the knees, and its playing range reaches an octave below the viola's. When the violin can be played standing up, and it has a higher pitch. Also, the cello obviously weighs a lot more than the violin, haha! I hope I helped! ;)
