Firstly, expand the equation.
[tex]2(x + 3) = 4(x - 1) \\ 2x + 6 = 4x - 4[/tex]

Next, move the variable x to the left and all the constant to the right.
[tex]2x + 6 = 4x - 4 \\ 2x - 4x = - 4 - 6 \\ - 2x = - 10[/tex]

Then, solve for x.
