He length of a rectangle is 3 more than twice the width. Find the area of the rectangle if the perimeter is 36 cm.

The width would be x because it is unknown and the length would be 2x +3 because it is twice the width plus three more the perimeter of a rectangle is equal to length +length +width + width so perimeter = 2length + 2width so 36= 2(2x+3)+2(x) so 36= (4x+6)+(2x) then add together 36=6x+6 subtract 6 on each side to get 30=6x then divide each side by 6 to get x= 5 so width would be 5 and length would be 2x5+3=13 the formula for area is length x width so area= 5x 13=65cm squared hope this helps
