The monocholrination is a chemical process where chlorine atoms are introduced into another a molecule. More specifically, the monocholrination is the process where only one atom of chlorine is introduced into a molecule, despite the fact that it is possible for two or more atoms to be introduced.

The term itself, monochlorination, indicates what its meaning is, with ''mono'' meaning ''one'', and ''chlorination'' being the process of introducing chlorine atoms to other molecules.
