That's not true, someone could look happy, but behind close doors, could be suffering badly. Just because someone is smiling doesn't mean they're happy, they just could be faking emotions.

This statement is 100% True.

It is not easy detecting the sadness in someone, mainly because we are not looking for it. We always see the happiness in someone, because it easily shows and we aren't looking for anything bad.
