What is the basic difference between the scientific meaning of “energy” and our everyday meaning of the word “energy?

The scientific meaning of energy is the power an object or force has that can be measured in joules, while the everyday meaning of energy is how awake a person is, or how eager a person is, and usually there isn’t a measurement.
