f(x)=2^x-3

f(6) = 2^x-3

f(6) = 2^6-3

f(6) = 64-3  =61

f(4) = 2^ 4-3

 f(4) = 16-3

f( 4) = 13

average rate of change = change in f(x)/ change in x

                                       = (61-13)  / (6-4)

                                        =48/2

                                          =24
