Jacques Cartier was a French explorer, by many considered the founder of Canada. He was the first to use the name Canada to describe the land, as well as the responsible for mapping sea routes to and through Canada.
Cartier might emphasize the wealth that exists in Canada because he was the first to estimate the natural resources of Canada, and his mineral estimate was a little off, as he thought the land was richer in this kind of resource than it really was.
