A faction is defined as a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one, especially in politics.

The advantages of a large republic are that by electing representatives, it is a way to refine and enlarge the public views by passing them through the medium of a chosen body of its wiser citizens. The public voice of the elected representative reflects the public good than the direct pronouncements of the people.
