Philosophy flourished during Athens’ Golden Age. Thales of Miletus who believed that water is where the earth came from.  There was Socrates whose great saying is “Know Thyself”.  His student Plato who wrote the Republic and Aristotle was Alexander the Great’s teacher and a host of others who laid the foundation for the pursuit of knowledge.
